Meridian is experienced with HL7 messaging protocols, and incorporates such messaging in most products.

Over the past 15 years Meridian has designed and implemented many systems built around a core of HL7 messages, in particular an HL7 server module that manages messaging within a major government department.

Most Meridian solutions running in Australian hospitals rely on HL7 messages to extract data from, and deliver to, the hospital, regional or enterprise PAS.

Meridian has recently completed a complex re-design project for a NSW organisation involving listening to the State wide network for certain HL7 messages, extracting this data and building and maintaining new databases and reporting systems.

Meridian products utilising HL7 messaging have been tested by the Australian Health Messaging Laboratory and are accredited to meet the interoperability 2006 messaging standards.
